Five Mid-Michigan schools

Che Ko class in session

Quick answer: Che Ko is a five-school Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program in Mid-Michigan. Pick the city page for the floor you will actually walk into, then start two free weeks.

Is 40 too old to start martial arts?

No. Adult beginner hours exist so a new student is not dropped into a kids class. Say your age when you book the trial so the coach puts you in a teen or adult group.

What is the best martial art to learn as a beginner?

If you want kicking, forms, and a clear belt path, start Taekwondo. If you want grappling and ground control, start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Many families try both during the two-week trial.

Is taekwondo or jiu jitsu better?

They train different problems. Taekwondo is standing striking and poomsae. BJJ is clinch, takedown defense, and ground work. Compare them on the Taekwondo vs BJJ guide, then pick a city.

How old should a child be to start martial arts?

Preschool hours exist for roughly ages 3–5. School-age kids usually start beginner Taekwondo. Ask for the child’s age when you book so they are not placed with teens.

How does a two-week martial arts trial work in Mid-Michigan?

Call or use the trial form, name the city you can actually drive to, and come in athletic clothes. Uniforms come after you pick the program. Do not treat the homepage as a Midland-only class listing.
